About Me

Hello! I'm Aaron James Lozier.

I wrote my first computer program in BASIC in 1984 when I was six years old. Since that time, I have participated in every major innovation in software engineering - from the early days of Web development to present day cloud-based "serverless" computing.

My passion is bringing business solutions to life using technology. As a "solutions architect," I bring to bear my broad understanding of cloud solutions as well as the principles of software engineering to devise solutions that are Safe, Scalable, and Secure.

I am actively seeking out new opportunities. Depending upon the company size, I am interested in a CTO/VP of Engineering position, Technical Co-Founder, or Solution Architect.

TEDx Talk

October 2017 TEDx Vermillionville

This talk, titled "Why Old Technology Matters: The Gift of Legacy Code," was serendipitously delivered on the 60th anniversary of Grace Hopper's discovery of the first "literal" software bug.

My objective was to help my listeners gain an appreciation of technology, especially old technology, from a different point of view. In addition, I sought to honor my father, a COBOL programmer, whose code is still running today.

Leadership

Founded custom software development company Information ArchiTECH in 2011. Built solutions for dozens of local and national clients, many of which are still in use today. Grew company over the next four years and sold in 2015.

Mentorship

In the course of my career I have had the priviledge of mentoring many junior developers, many of which have gone on to enjoy illustrious careers as senior developers, architects and even VP/CTO roles.

Braintree > Hyperwallet

Braintree Marketplace to Hyperwallet Migration

Released October 2019 Waitr, Inc.

Architected, managed and deployed a sensitive migration of an existing disbursement system, handling up to 1M in transactions/day, from Braintree Marketplace to Hyperwallet.

This was accomplished with a dual-writing/Strategy Pattern architecture that ensured customers could be migrated incrementally during the testing phase.

Paylocity > UltiPro

Paylocity to UltiPro Migration

Released January 2020 Waitr, Inc.

Assisted in the migration of the company-wide payroll system from Paylocity to UltiPro. With a hard deadline of January 1, 2020, I was called into the project at a late phase in order to handle a sensitive data migration portion, involving the integration of multiple internal and external services.

Despite the time-crunch, the migration was a complete success with no downtime or missed payments.

Although initially serving as Senior Java Backend Engineer for the Unify360 platform, I quickly leveraged my full-stack engineering capabilities to assist in all aspects of the platform, developing both the frontend and backend components for entire features.

After identifying several defects in the platform's architecture and presenting them to leadership, I was promoted to the role of Solution Architect and led the effort to refactor the platform. During this time, I implemented CGI's Design Platform Library (DPL) as a re-usable Angular library, which was soon adopted by other business units for their own projects.

2014 - 2018 Potenza Innovations

Return Flight was the evolution of a product originally developed by my company, Information ArchiTECH, for a client - Potenza Marketing. Potenza Innovations was launched in 2015 after the acquisition of Information ArchiTECH by Potenza Marketing.

Return Flight was a highly sophisticated "ad tech" platform which specialized in the automotive dealership industry. The platform was utilized by hundreds of car dealerships across the country, in partnership with Sinclair Broadcast Group which supplied the sales force. Return Flight generated dynamic digital ads and retargeting, as well as deep analytics and data mining capabilities for identifying latent sales opportunities via integration with auto dealers inventory and CRM systems.

2012 - 2015 Rope, Soap `N Dope

A highly ambitous project. Integrating with an on-premises CRM with thousands of skus and over a decade of accumulated customer history, the Rope, Soap `N Dope website was launched as a seamless extension of the brick and mortar store located in Broussard, Louisiana.

Within months of launching, Website sales outpaced sales at the physical location. Today, the Rope, Soap `N Dope website has become the heart of the business.

"Etiquette"

2012 - 2015 Acadian Contractors

“Etiquette” is a custom application I developed for Acadian Contractors, Inc, beginning in 2012, as a solution for managing the increasing complexity of time and materials billing, rate schedules and payroll.

Etiquette provides Acadian Contractors a single, air-tight system where all hours and materials are tracked and billed in a consistent manner, and cut-corners or “lost time” are prohibited. Put simply, no customer can be billed until all hours are accounted for. Therefore, Etiquette is more than a convenience. It is a system which maximizes profit and productivity by enforcing accountability at every level of the organization.

The president of Acadian Contractors, Glynn Hebert, stated simply: “Etiquette has allowed me the see reports in 24 hours which used to take me 3 months to get.”
